(2008-11X17: Ink brush, Tech pen-for border))

:bulletred: Rebel: Pencils
:bulletblue: Colors coming soon!?

:iconalithebandit:’s Rebel

He was 1st place winner in an OC (Original Character) contest, so I drew his character ‘rebel’ (he’s not officially named yet). A great personality and fun to draw!

Thanks so much! And I know what you mean about seeing your creations through someone else's eyes and style.

Thank you very much. I actually got to keep the original inks with this one, so maybe one day you can check them out in person since you also saw the pencils in progress.

Your line weights are consistent however a little more variety in the weight with respect to a light source would improve the image.

Turning the left shoulder away from the viewer while maintaining the head position would also help, this is so you are not obscuring the face.

You can tell me to get bent now.:)

I did adjust the line weight to the light source, I merely kept it to a minimum. Thicker on the right and bottom in most areas. Although I do see where that can be exaggerated more. Thanks.

As for the shoulder over the face, that's fully intentional. Obscuring the face is a case-by-case basis. That's a general rule to go by, but not written in stone. Like a rule that when understood can be bent to accommodate other factors the artist is trying to convey...like certain feelings and elements within a story.

Like hiding features you don't want the viewer to notice or recognize at that time. Or to add intrigue (mystery) or fear within the character (like they're hiding from something)...or if they need to try and look through/around something.

It can also help with making a pose more interesting by giving another plane of depth...which I've chosen using the neck guard and giving a more interesting angle to the static upright pose. Faces get obscured mostly when you start covering eyes and mouths...things the viewer can connect better in association with the character. The chin is nothing to worry about.
;P

I appreciate you looking out.

NGoff says,

Sorta like when I wear baggy clothes to hide my fatness...
